Day 2 - Singapore

Singapore is unofficially my 25th country visited.  Two initial observations: 1.) It's a very beautiful city, lots of great architecture, really clean, on the water, with a long history, and 2.) it's really HOT here!  This is definitely the closest to the equator I've ever been.  Spent the day walking through the city, and my watch thermometer hit 99.3 F.  The humidity doesn't help either.  (Not sure this is the best training for a cold Nepal mountain trek!)  Saw a couple famous old hotels here, including the one where the Singapore Sling was invented.  Spent some time in Chinatown, then visited a Bhuddist temple.  Ate BBQ stingray for dinner.  It's a little stringy, almost like pulled pork.  It's popular with the younger crowd here to eat a second dinner, so to speak, late at night.  Most people get Prata, which is very similar to Indian Naan bread.  One can get prata with eggs, cheese, seafood, or a variety of other toppings, and the prata is dipped in curry sauce.  Or, one can get a dessert prata with honey, bananas, or ice cream.

  1. You HAVE TO go to the Banana Leaf in little India. Awesome Indian food.

  2. Nice pics Mike! Glad you decided to blog your trip. Too bad you didn't do this for the other 24 countries too, you could have had a book by now! :)

Hope you're having a blast! I'll be praying for you from the other side of the world.

PS. I see you haven't even made it 3 days without your shirt off...haha. ;)
